Generally — the 2016 Honda Accord earns a 4.4/5 user rating and a 6.8/10 expert rating.

The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

Drivers consistently praise its comfort, reliability, and impressive gas mileage, and they also value the safety features and interior quality. That lines up well with the Accord’s role as a sensible midsize family sedan that is meant to be practical, efficient, and easy to live with. Even with a few quality complaints in some units, the overall picture is still strong for shoppers who want a well-rounded used sedan.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Honda Accord?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Accord lineup spans LX, Sport, EX-L, and Touring, with the Touring looking and feeling the most upscale thanks to its Acura-like styling, LED headlights, and 19-inch machined-finish alloy wheels. The base LX is the most stripped-back choice, while higher trims add navigation and safety technology upgrades.
• Powertrain: Most models use a 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine with 185 horsepower, while the Sport raises output to 189 hp. If you want the V6, you need an EX-L V6 or Touring V6, and the car is front-wheel drive only.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing is the named driver-assistance suite, and it includes forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist, road-departure prevention, and adaptive cruise control. It is standard on EX-L and Touring with both engines, and it cannot be paired with the manual transmission.
• Infotainment: Every Accord gets Bluetooth with streaming audio, text-messaging support, a USB port, and Pandora access. The 7-inch touchscreen with HondaLink, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Siri Eyes Free is reserved for Touring and Touring V6 models.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert review says the Accord averaged 9.6 L/100 km on a test loop, compared with an official combined rating of 9.4 L/100 km. It also notes that the car can dip below 7 L/100 km on the open road at highway speeds.

Which 2016 Honda Accord trim should I buy?

The 2016 Honda Accord is offered in 6 trim levels: LX, Sport, EX-L, Touring, EX-L V6, Touring V6.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point if you want the Accord’s core strengths at the lowest price, but you give up the richer equipment and technology found higher up the range.
• Sport: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a more athletic feel, including the 189-hp four-cylinder and larger front brakes, while staying below the luxury-oriented trims.
• EX-L: This is the smart step up if you want more comfort and the Honda Sensing safety suite, making it a strong choice for family buyers who want more equipment without going all the way to Touring.
• Touring: This is the most fully equipped four-cylinder model, and it suits you if you want the 7-inch touchscreen, HondaLink, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and the most upscale presentation.
• EX-L V6: Choose this if you want the stronger V6 powertrain and still want a well-equipped trim with the safety package standard.
• Touring V6: This is the top choice if you want the most power and the most technology together, but it is the priciest route into the Accord lineup.

Honda Sensing is standard on EX-L and Touring with both engines, but it cannot be combined with the manual transmission.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Honda Accord?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop carefully and still find some value.

• Deal availability: 33.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 111 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.09% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $15,053 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Honda Accord's resale value?

The current average of $15,259 CAD sits slightly below last year's $16,076 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the Accord is not currently in a rising-value phase, so future sellers may need to be realistic about what the market will pay. The good news is that the model’s broad appeal, strong efficiency, and reputation for reliability should help keep demand steady. If you maintain the car well and keep it in a desirable trim, you should have a better chance of protecting resale value than with a less popular midsize sedan.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2016 Honda Accord safe?

The 2016 Honda Accord earns top marks in every NHTSA and IIHS assessment except for four-star ratings for frontal-impact protection.

It earns a 5/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is the named driver-assistance suite, and it includes forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist, road-departure prevention, and adaptive cruise control. It is available on every version of the Accord, but you cannot combine it with the manual transmission.

A standard backup camera is included, with three viewpoints including a 180-degree rear view. The main caveat is that rear cross-traffic alert and a traditional blind-spot warning system are not part of the package, and LaneWatch only covers the right-side blind spot rather than both sides.

Should I buy a 2016 Honda Accord or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 33.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.09% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• Honda’s 2016 refresh adds Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a broader safety-tech offering.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $13,463 CAD, the 2015 costs less than the current year's $15,259 CAD average.
• The 2015 is a highly capable sedan with a reputation for dependable service and broad all-around competence.

The bottom line: Choose the 2016 if you want the updated tech and safety improvements, plus a still-reasonable used price. If your priority is saving money upfront, the 2015 is the better value path, especially if you can find one in good condition.
