Is the 2016 Chevrolet Trax a good car?

Yes — the 2016 Chevrolet Trax earns a 5/5 user rating, and its appeal is rooted in being a city-friendly subcompact crossover that blends sedan-like manoeuvrability and fuel efficiency with a higher seating position and extra cargo flexibility. It was designed as an affordable, practical choice for shoppers who wanted small-SUV utility without moving up to a larger crossover, and its packaging includes useful touches like a folding front passenger seat and a seven-inch infotainment touchscreen.

The market also shows 18.8% of listings as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 Chevrolet Trax reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2016 Trax’s strengths are more about everyday usefulness and value than standout performance, and its early-year design means it was not especially rich in safety or convenience features compared with later versions. For used buyers, that means long-term ownership risk is less about complexity and more about making sure the specific vehicle has been maintained well and still suits your expectations for features and refinement.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Chevrolet Trax?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 18.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 96 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 25.15% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $8,381 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Chevrolet Trax's resale value?

The current average of $8,454 CAD sits slightly below last year's $11,295 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Trax has become more accessible for buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. Because the model is positioned as a practical, budget-conscious small SUV, resale value will likely depend on how well your vehicle presents against other listings in the market. If you keep it clean, well maintained, and reasonably equipped, you should be in a better position when it is time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Chevrolet Trax or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 18.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 25.15% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2016 Trax makes sense if you want a budget-friendly, city-sized crossover and you find one priced well within the current market. If you are especially price-sensitive, keep an eye on listings near the low end of the range and compare them carefully against nearby model years before you commit.
