Generally — the 4.45/5 user rating suggests you’re looking at a truck that owners feel good about overall. Is the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.45/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The review summary also highlights reliability and a generally trouble-free ownership experience for many drivers, with some owners saying they can count on it for daily use. That said, the broader model-year context points to transmission-related concerns, so used buyers should pay close attention to service history and how the truck drives on a test route. For long-term ownership, condition and maintenance records matter a lot more than the badge alone.

What is the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500's resale value?

The current average of $20,156 CAD sits slightly below last year's $20,955 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the market has become a bit more buyer-friendly, which can work against a future seller if you buy at the wrong point in the range. On the other hand, it also means you may be able to enter ownership at a more reasonable price and leave yourself room for depreciation. If you keep the truck in strong condition and maintain it well, you’ll be better positioned when it’s time to resell.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.45/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 25.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.81% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.45/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2016 makes sense if you want a well-liked Silverado with modernised features and you can verify that the specific truck has been cared for properly. If you’re price-sensitive, the softer market and decent deal share make this a year worth considering, but you should still compare it carefully against nearby model years and prioritise condition, maintenance history, and test-drive behaviour.
