Is the 2016 Chevrolet Equinox a good car?

Yes — the 2016 Chevrolet Equinox earns a 4.5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its spacious interior, array of features, and good value for money, and many also like the remote start, backup camera, and comfortable ride. For you, that makes it a sensible pick if you want an affordable used crossover with a roomy cabin and everyday convenience. The market also shows 16.8% of listings as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 Chevrolet Equinox reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle that many people find dependable in daily use, with comments highlighting comfort, confidence in tough conditions, and a generally trouble-free ownership experience for some drivers. At the same time, the model’s reputation is shaped by serious engine concerns, so reliability depends heavily on maintenance history and how carefully the vehicle has been cared for. For used buyers, that means long-term ownership risk is real enough that a thorough inspection is essential before you commit.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Chevrolet Equinox?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 16.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 143 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.32% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $10,490 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Chevrolet Equinox's resale value?

The current average of $10,508 CAD sits slightly below last year's $11,589 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make future depreciation feel less abrupt if you buy at the right price. For a seller, it means you should expect a value profile that rewards clean condition, strong maintenance records, and a well-presented listing more than simple age alone. If demand stays steady, the model’s practical appeal can help support a reasonable resale position, but the engine reputation may keep a lid on upside.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Chevrolet Equinox or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 16.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.32% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2016 Chevrolet Equinox makes sense if you want a roomy, well-equipped compact SUV and you can verify that the vehicle has been maintained carefully. If you’re price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby model years and focus on the cleanest example with the best service history, since condition matters a lot with this generation.
