CarGurus Analysis: 2015 Nissan Altima
Summary
With 95 currently listed for sale and an average price of $8,719 CAD, 27.4% of 2015 Nissan Altima listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2015 Nissan Altima 4.67 / 5 stars.
Why it stands out
The 2015 Nissan Altima stands out as a well-equipped midsize sedan that leans more toward comfort and value than outright excitement. It sits within the fifth generation, which brought competitive pricing, characterful styling, and a strong value proposition against rivals. For buyers shopping used, that combination still matters: the Altima offers a lot of car for the money, and it was designed to be a practical family sedan with decent fuel efficiency.
For this generation, the Altima used a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine with 179 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque, while an optional 3.5-litre V6 made 270 horsepower and 251 pound-feet. Both were paired with continuously variable automatic transmissions, and the car was front-wheel drive only. Early in the generation, the cabin featured a conventional centre stack, an optional 7-inch navigation display, and a driver assist screen in the gauge cluster, while blind spot warning, moving object detection, and lane departure warnings were optional. The 2016 facelift improved the styling and added extra cabin quietness, and by 2018 Apple CarPlay and Android Auto became standard along with a backup camera.
The 2015 Altima’s appeal is also tied to its everyday usability. It was available with a good mix of equipment, and later in the generation it gained standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus a backup camera. At the same time, there are a few trade-offs to keep in mind: the CVT dulls the driving experience, resale values are only so-so, and the fifth generation has a below-average repair record overall. Even so, it remains a sensible used choice for shoppers who want comfort, efficiency, and a lot of features without paying a premium.

There are 92 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.
Is the 2015 Nissan Altima a good car?
Yes — the 2015 Nissan Altima earns a 4.67/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its smooth performance, reliability, fuel economy, and comfortable interior, and many also like the modern features it offers for the money. That fits well if you want a practical family sedan that leans toward comfort and value rather than excitement. With 28.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have some room to shop carefully.
Is the 2015 Nissan Altima reliable?
Owners rate it 4.67/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback highlights reliability, and many drivers describe the car as dependable and trouble-free over time. That kind of feedback matters if you want a used sedan you can count on for daily driving and longer ownership. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is making sure the specific car has been maintained well and has a clean history.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Nissan Altima?
This looks like a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right car.
- Deal availability: 28.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 92 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 13.62% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $8,451 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2015 Nissan Altima's resale value?
The current average of $8,724 CAD sits slightly below last year's $10,100 CAD.
That softer pricing suggests the market has become more buyer-friendly, which can make the car easier to purchase now but may also limit upside for a future seller. If you buy at the right price, you reduce the risk of taking a bigger hit later. The current trend also suggests resale values are stable enough for a practical commuter, but not especially strong compared with more in-demand alternatives.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.67/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2015 Nissan Altima or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2015 if:
- 28.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 13.62% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.67/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: You should focus on the 2015 if you want a comfortable, value-oriented midsize sedan and you find one priced near the lower end of the market. If you're especially price-sensitive, it also makes sense to compare nearby model years and choose the best-maintained example with the strongest asking price, since the Altima's appeal is more about everyday value than standout resale strength.
