Is the 2015 Ford Explorer a good car?

Generally — the 2015 Ford Explorer earns a 4.4/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction for a used family SUV. Drivers most often praise its comfort, spaciousness, performance, stylish look, and technology, while the overview frames it as a practical choice if you want room, versatility, and available all-wheel drive in a more car-like package. The market also shows 16.2% of listings as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2015 Ford Explorer reliable?

Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback also points to a vehicle that many owners find dependable in day-to-day use, with comments highlighting its solid feel, driveability, and family-friendly usefulness. That said, the broader model-year overview notes that this generation’s reliability record is only average or below average, so you should still pay close attention to maintenance history and inspection results before buying.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that a well-liked SUV can still bring higher repair exposure if it has been poorly maintained.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Ford Explorer?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 16.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 136 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.39% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $12,194 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 Ford Explorer's resale value?

The current average of $12,273 CAD sits slightly below last year's $14,169 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the Explorer easier to buy now but may also limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you purchase at the current average, your future resale value will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and service records. Because the model still attracts family buyers looking for space and versatility, well-kept examples should remain easier to move than neglected ones.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2015 Ford Explorer or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 16.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.39% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2015 is a sensible choice if you want a roomy, versatile Explorer with strong owner approval and a market that is giving you some negotiating room. If you are especially price-sensitive, a nearby year may be worth comparing, but the 2015 remains the better pick when you want a balance of value, features, and buyer appeal.
