Which 2014 Honda Civic trim should I buy?

The 2014 Honda Civic is offered in 6 trim levels: DX, LX, EX, Touring, Si, Hybrid.

Here's the short version:

• DX: This is the entry point, and it is the most basic choice if you want the lowest-cost Civic sedan and are comfortable giving up the extra convenience and tech features found higher up the range.
• LX: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the core equipment you actually use, including Bluetooth, music streaming, text messaging support, a USB port, heated front seats, and heated side mirrors.
• EX: Choose this if you want the biggest step up in everyday comfort and convenience, including automatic climate control, a power sunroof, keyless entry with push-button ignition, HondaLink, and LaneWatch.
• Touring: This is the most upscale Civic sedan here, with leather seats, an eight-way power driver’s seat, navigation, satellite radio, and a multi-angle reversing camera.

The safety package is strongest on EX and higher trims, while lower trims keep the core Civic safety hardware.

Should I buy a 2014 Honda Civic or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 24.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.46% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It brings a refined, capable feel with strong tech and safety for the money.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $12,097 CAD, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $11,395 CAD average.
• It focuses even more on reliability, safety, fuel efficiency, quality, and value.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2014 is the smarter starting point. If you are willing to pay more for a newer model year and a slightly more complete all-round package, the 2015 is worth a look. For price-sensitive buyers, the 2014 remains the more compelling buy.
