296000 miles same engine 4.0 same transmission auto not rebuilt has some
tranny and engine seal leakage but still a solid ride some rust needs painting, AC.out replaced waterpump, cat converter,hoses, starter brakes , still original drums only matiance, items.

It has a very reliable engine and excellent off-road ability and is a good daily driver. Too bad they dont make em anymore.

4.0 litre 6 gets up and goes! We purchased it well used, but very well looked after, other than running hot, and a couple of electrical gremlins, it is a very solid vehicle and the legendary 4X4 capabilities of Jeep shine through. It's just too shiny and scratch free to take serious off roading, (my wife would kill me)

Lots of power from the 4.0L HO. Brakes are pretty good. Maybe a little touchy. For a tall SUV, it handles nice. Tight turning circle for a truck. Haven't needed any major repairs yet. Doesn't have any obtrusive squeaks or rattles. Gas mileage ain't great, but it's an SUV. Stock AM/FM stereo has a surprising amount of volume and sound quality. l Love driving it.

Tough as nails, someone hit a brick wall with me in at low speeds, so we strapped the bumper to a tree, put it in 4wd and hit reverse and pulled it out. The 6cyl. was very torquey. Pulled a landscaping trailer very well. Did very nice burn outs thanks to the eaton rear end. Very good suv, took its beating and always asked for more.
