(88 reviews)I bought it with 87K original miles on it from a little old lady (no, really) in 1998. Since then I have completely restored it and put another 55K miles on it. It has won 25 awards for excellence at various car shows and has been featured in a newspaper article as well as serving as a prop in a San Francisco Brides magazine pictorial (the bride and groom's getaway car) and being one of the month cars in a 2011 Mustang calendar. IMHO, this is the last of the first generation Mustangs that still looked like the original Mustang concept. The front end still has the deep set headlights in the front fender extensions characteristic of the breed, and the car still shares the same wheel base and floor pan with the original 1965 Mustang. In April, 2009 we took it on a caravan with Mustangs Across America from home (Fremont, CA then) to Birmingham, AL for the 45th anniversary of the introduction of the Mustang put on by the MCA (Mustang Club of America). The car did the whole 5,200 mile trip without a mechanical problem. We did get caught in a wind downburst on the way home east if Rawlins, WY, however, that sandblasted my poor baby and required about $7K in paint, chrome, stainless and glass. It also survived a snow storm in central Nevada on that trip that had us running in heavy white stuff from Battle Mountain, NV to Reno. The first photo is just before the sandblasting and the third photo is when it was repainted as a result. The car had zero rust when they stripped it to bare metal. It's a great car.
Acceleration ....fast and cool Build quality....cant beet the old ones Appearance.....Beautiful Cost....needs a fuel tanker behind you Fun Factor....cant beat it, loads of fun Amazing car everybody should have one, car rebuilt and everything back to how it was when it left the factory by my hubby
I´ve always had 66 mustangs but a few years I bought a 69 sportsroof and I am in the process of a ground up restoration. This specific body style loos like a Muscle Car due to its side air scoops, huge back side and really long hood. What else do you want in a car from this era. It even has the big engine...
Grew up with this car. It has claimed the top spot as my all time favourite car. Lots of power, and its got a really mean look. argueably the second greatest thing, next to a Slayer concert, to cross my sights.
One hell of a car. I miss it but remember, I know EVERYTHING that was wrong with it. Unfortunetly a BLOG is just one place to list the numerous mechanical problems. Love the car hate the repair bills.
