Toyota Canada does not publicize the age and kilometre accrual requirements of its certified pre-owned (CPO) vehicle program, which is referred to as the Toyota Certified Used Vehicle (TCUV) program. However, to qualify for the program, a Toyota vehicle must pass the automaker’s meticulous 160-point inspection by a Toyota factory-trained technician.

Warranties
All Toyota certified pre-owned vehicles are sold with a minimum 6 month, 10,000-km powertrain warranty. This is achieved either through the remainder of the factory warranty or, if required, an additional powertrain warranty that is effective from the time of the purchase. These warranties are not transferable. Optional extra care protection is available for an extra charge, referred to by Toyota Canada as service agreements, which may be transferable to a subsequent owner.

Perks
Roadside assistance
Toyota Canada CPO vehicles are covered for 24-hour roadside assistance for the duration of the vehicle’s remaining factory warranty and a minimum of 12 months. For example, if a CPO vehicle is purchased 12 months after the vehicle was first registered, then the vehicle would have 24 months of roadside assistance coverage remaining. If the used car is 5 years old, then the selling dealership would add a six-month powertrain warranty and 12 months of roadside assistance to meet TCUV program requirements. Features of Toyota Canada’s roadside assistance include mechanical breakdown and accident towing, winching, tire change, battery boost, lock-out service, fuel delivery, trip interruption, and travel planning.
7-day, 1,500 km Exchange Privilege
Should the buyer not be satisfied with the vehicle, it can be exchanged for another pre-owned Toyota vehicle from the same Toyota dealer's inventory within 7 days or 1,500 kilometres of the original purchase.
Complimentary First Oil Change
The first oil and filter change performed after the certified used Toyota vehicle purchase is free of charge.
Vehicle History Report
All Toyota CPO vehicles come with a complimentary Carfax vehicle history report.
Special Financing Rates
Toyota CPO vehicles are eligible to receive special certified used vehicle rates and terms through Toyota Financial Services.

Advice when choosing your CPO Toyota
Get the best deal you can
Although CPO vehicles do offer more guarantees in terms of quality and condition, you should still seek to get the best selling price when negotiating for the purchase. For example, a larger down payment might help lower monthly payments if you’re buying on finance.
You should also get the dealer to to go through a finance example versus a lease example with you.
You could also use the spec of the car to help negotiate a deal. For example if you wanted a car with foglights, a sunroof, a roof rack or a specific style of alloy wheels but the dealer couldn’t supply a car to that precise spec, it’s potentially a lever for negotiation—especially if it’s approaching the end of the month and the dealer has targets to hit...
Double-check the car is right for you
It’s wise to take the car for a test drive if at all possible – because although the assurances you’ll get from buying a car that’s approved by a CPO program mean the vehicle should be dependable, you still need to know if it suits you. For example, does it have desirable on-board tech such as Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility or premium audio? Does it have power seats or memory seats? How easy is it to use the navigation system, the cruise control or the steering wheel controls?
You should also to check you are happy with how well other gadgets. work, such as the rearview camera or reverse sensing system, or rear air conditioning, if the car has it.
How good is the Toyota CPO program?
Toyota's standard warranty is not the most generous, but the other benefits of a Toyota CPO purchase are appealing, especially the roadside assistance and complimentary first oil change.
