Driver side window will not open when the door is opened.

Asked by PierceRanchPorsche Oct 14, 2016 at 12:54 AM about the 2004 Porsche 911 Turbo Coupe AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Normally when the door is opened, the window cracks about 1/4 - 1/2 inch,
then closes after the door is closed.  What is this part called and how do I
check to see if it can be fixed in place (fuse out for instance)?

There are a couple of things it could be. One is you need to re- train your windows; you do so by pressing and holding the window button down - all the way down and an additional 10 seconds. Then do the same for raising the window. The other option are the micro switches are bad and need changing.

Could be the window regulator. It's about 450 for an independent shop to change.

Thank you both for your input. I will try the least invasive procedure first, then when all else fails, it's off to find the part and have it installed. Thanks again for your input.
