The cause can be 4 things spark plugs, air flow, fuel flow, or compression. You can check the spark plugs and air flow pretty easily. Fuel flow and compression can be a bit hard to determine. If the car sounds like it sputters at all then its a fuel flow issue. Compression you might have to take to a shop for or eliminate the others first.
