How do I set the time on 1997 firebird

It will roll over and sometimes try to crank,and when it does it backfires.

cant adjust ignition timing its all electronic v6 has coil packs 1 per 2 cylinders. check the wiring on the coil packs dont go by the numbers either (assuming they are stock) someone may have switched them by mistake. on the V8 distributor cap looking at the cap left side top to bottom 4,6,8,2 right side top to bottom 5,3,7,1.... v6 coil packs sit on a square block 3 packs starting from the back closest to the wide ICM plug 1,4 middle pack is for 2,5 and last one is 6,3
