When do I have to replace the engine on my 2002 firebird?

Asked by Skippy1111 Mar 17, 2014 at 05:13 PM about the 2002 Pontiac Firebird

Question type: General

My car has 200,000 miles on it. It runs fine. But someone told me that maybe I'll have at least 30-50,000 miles left.  Is that true?

the someone doesnt know anything about motors. -- keep your oil in good shape and your filters clean and you can get Many more out of your car --I wouldn't worry about it -- drive it!

My 1999 F 350 had 412,000 miles on it and my Ford Expedition had 254,000 miles on it when I sold them. I would still be drive them if I hadn't retired to The Philippines. Regular oil changes and fuel filter replacements are the key. I miss my truck's more than some of my relatives.

Since your car is a GM model, I had a 1994 GMC Sonoma P/U that had 465,000 miles when I had to part with it due to a broken gas tank. I was thinking of replacing the gas tank, but the figured there were parts that had 465,000 on them, and could go, so decided it was time. The engine was strong as an ox, had a trimming chain, not belt. It had synthetic oil from it's first mile (or 300, as back then it was recommended the original oil be drained I think that so the slivers and shavings in the engine would adhere to the used oil. While I think 465,000 miles is an anomaly in any car, it can and does happen.Even In an American vehicle.
