I have a 2001 pontiac montana & after sitting overnight or all day while I'm at work the rpm's will go to 2800 before shifting into 3rd gear & drive. I can sometimes go up to 1 mile before it will shift. Is my transmission going out or is it something else?

Transmission problems

1 Answer

seems low on transmission fluid...look for a leak at the radiator, where the transmission fluid is cooled, there is always a flexible connection there that frequently leaks....look for red drips, check the level of your transmission with the engine running between the two hash marks, running~
