2004 pontiac montana battery

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Battery  drains quickly. Engine turns over when we jump it but won't start. Tried
to start several  times over 3 weeks. One man tapped on gas tank with rubber  
mallet and it started  and started  and ran every time ever for over a week. If the
fuel pump is out would it affect the battery  like that? Or could it be a volarge
regulator?
