My Nissan xterra has a short that is killing my batteries

Asked by rwhansen May 30, 2015 at 01:59 PM about the 2002 Nissan Xterra SE Supercharged 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

xterra has a short.  tried isolating by disconnecting ground and connecting with a test light
and pulling individual fuses to see if the test light went out.  It never actually went out.
However it did flash a bit on the two ignition fuses..  looked at ignition switch wires and
saw nothing obvious.  Any suggestions?

Additional information - looked at the amp draw when I disconnected the FL 80A IGN 1 SW (B+) AND IT DROPPED FROM 1.5 DOWN TO .20 WHEN I PULLED THIS FUSE.

Did you figure out what this was? I'm having the same problem with my 2003 Frontier. Amp draw went from .76 to 0 when I removed this fuse

have a battery drain issue also, has there been a recall by nissan to fix the problem ? or should we all get together and file a class action suit against them? pulled every fuse except the 80 amp ign.fuse at box next to the battery ,that one would not come out, and still a short?why would`nt the short blow a fuse somewhere?
