DOES the cd player remain on when 2019 vw sportwagon is turned off

wondering if my battery will go dead if i leave cd in the player

You can leave the CD in the player. It will not draw down your power and come back on when you start the car again. One note, though. If the CD player is part of the "entertainment system" it will draw a a very small amount of power to maintain your preset radio stations and clock.
