Service engine light Altima

I have a 2006 Altima, the service engine light came on after I got gas, steady not blinking.
I had gotten down pretty low. Anyway, made it home, tightened the fuel cap, but now it
won't start???

First thing come,s to mind if fuel pump,do you here it when you switch key on,may have drug trash in it from being low of fuel.

I did hear the hum when I turned it over. Just kept bugging me so I went back out and fiddled with the gas cap again, this time it started thank goodness! Still gonna have it checked out, but maybe the gas cap is worn or something?
