Replaced steering column on 97 ford mustang with anti theft

How do I get the car to recognize the new key? It will crank then shuts down

You have to program the Transponder chip in the key to the cars security system and you will need special equipment to do so. Contact a few local mechanics, locksmiths or the Ford Dealer to help you out.
