2019 Subaru Forester Limited rear gate

Asked by GuruH9RNH Jun 30, 2019 at 09:07 AM about the 2019 Subaru Forester 2.5i Limited AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2019 Subaru Forester Limited Gate will not
open with button on rear gate or remote.
It has happened four times since purchase at
end of February 2019. Dealer is telling me I
must be doing something wrong but they
can't open it either.
Dealer service has to climb into back of car
through a passenger door, remove panel on
inside of rear gate and manually open a lever.
Technician showed me how to open from
inside gate.
Can this be repaired?

I also have had the same issue with my 2019 Forester...this is my third Forester and I am not happy with this car so far. First, I could not get the hatch to open the car didn't have 3000 miles yet...waited 3 weeks with access to the trunk for a module to come in. It was replaced one week ago today and now I am having an issue again...also at the same time I could not sync my phone and car...the date was showing 2017 and the time was hours off...they told me there was a software update and it is working now. Very disappointed in this 2019 model.
