transmission question?

Asked by Pheonix Sep 01, 2014 at 11:40 AM about the 1997 Mitsubishi Galant ES

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 97 galant with a automatic transmission and was wondering if it is normal for a
mitsubishi for the rpms to run high.  When I'm driving down the highway the rpms are just
over 3 thousand at 70mph. The transmission doesn't slip or shift hard.

That is a little bit high..not much. Go to: http://www.cars-data.com/en/mitsubishi-galant-2.5-v6-specs/26513 and it shows: Final drive: 3,72:1---- RPM at 120 km/h (theoretical): 2.900 rpm which is 75 mph , . Which just about what my Corolla runs at...2800 @70mph
