Transmission

Asked by Gsmith2613 Jul 06, 2019 at 01:01 AM about the 2001 Mitsubishi Galant ES

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was driving down the freeway and bumbed
the shifter out of drive to neutral I placed it
back to drive but it wouldn't engage I pulled
off the freeway and ran the shifter through
all the gears it clicked in the positions but
will not engage, reverse either. Does this
mean the transmission is bad or is it a
cheaper repair?

I'm pretty mechanically inclined this sounds like something a professional would have to do? Parts may be inexpensive but sounds like a lot in labor cost. Any thoughts that it could be the linkage?
