left turn signal wont work, right does work. what is going on

My left turn signal started intermitantly working and now doesn't at all. the back light lights up but doesnt flash.

NO! If the bulb is coming on when the signal is turned on even if it's not blinking,then it's not the bulb because it's a single element bulb( bulb #1156)! there is power there at the socket because the bulb lights up,it just don't blink. more testing will be needed....wiring,corrosion,flasher,turn signal switch....
