What could be making a static noise come through my car when the radio is not on?

Recently my car light has been on saying that there is a door ajar. but there isn't. this morning when i started my car it sounded like the radio was on but it was all static.  the radio was not on. the noise continued the whole ride to work. it even continued for a few seconds after i shut off the car and removed the key

Dear meg_d_a-- You obviously have an electrical problem somewhere in your 1997 Ford Expedition. Electrical problems should be dealt with by experienced professionals only. A good man could probably fix whatever is wrong very quickly. A less than acceptable mechanic could cause you heqadaches for years to come. I hope this advice helps. Good luck from Bovan.
