Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My boyfriend and I had purchased a 2002
mitsubishi eclipse it is a great car only 75,000
miles on it we were driving it home and all of
sudden we heard sounded like a belt broke and
then boom and the from tires looked up and
started smoking white smoke not black and mind u
everything was working fine and nothing was
leaking from the car and so anybody have any
ideas what it may be

If the engine won't turn over, most likely you threw a rod or the timing is busted. If the smoke is Light Blue, pretty much threw a rod.
