Will anyone tell me what this is!?!?!?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Will anyone tell me what this is on my battery!? Just
purchased this car a week ago and cannot figure
out what this thing is on the battery. Never seen it in
my life and nobody i know has seen such a thing
like it either. Purchased from a used car lot and the
only thing i can think that it would be would be a
tracker of some sort or something that is used to fix
a wiring problem with the car.

@tennisshoes makes a lot of sense since the other day my battery died while i was at school but havnt had anyproblems since i replaced that but it could be an alternator problem.

I had the first battery tested and it was poor. They tightened the connectivity and it tested good. I went to school and the battery died. I got a new battery and its worked great but only been a few days. If i expierience the same problems i guess its time for a new alternator
