Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I understand it is an emissions issue.  I remember getting a recall notice years ago.  could this be that problem?  What should I do?

Call your local Mini Dealer and ask about any service bulletins or recalls or, if in the vicinity stop by and ask, they will take your key and put it in the computer that they have and it will tell them all the info they need. You do not have to let them do the work but if it is a recall, the work should be free.

The light went off all by itself. I took it to the dealer, and they took the liberty of developing service recommendations to the tune of several thousand dollars. What bs. Nothing to do with anything emissions or electrical.

I have a Mini 2013 Cooper Standard and I fueled up 2 days ago. I smelled gas but never thought to check the cap. Today the Check engine light came on. I called the dealer and of course it has to come in and stay. I am so skeptical about them I called my mechanic and he said lets clear the code, check the cap and then see if the light comes on again. That will let us know if it's just the gas cap or something more. I wouldn't get this simple solution from the dealership!

BTW....my car only has 25, 000 miles. Question I read somewhere on here that I should be putting Premium Fuel in my mini? Is that a correct suggestion?
