RPMS TOO HIGH! Could have been my post!!

Asked by xtnkcat Mar 21, 2010 at 05:02 PM about the 1991 Mercury Capri Convertible FWD

Question type: General

Came here to seek answers to my concerns over a 91 Capri I just bought w/ 33.000 original miles. Car sems to run pretty hot even though these early Spring New England temps have barely hit 60 so far. RPMS at 70 MPH is about 3900. I'm thinking that's kind of high for a 5 speed. Are my concerns warrented?
  Thanks  in advance!!!!

those are common revs for this car and the temp gauge is fine they always register hotter than they really are

i would "suggest" that you do a Coolant change and thermostat as soon as possible, and see what haooens then.
