98 mercury mystique

engine will turn over will not start it seems there is no spark

no spark because there is no fuel getting to the block perhaps. you have either a dirty gas filter and your gas pump in tank is out. test the pump by turning the key from the off to the on position you should hear a slight humming from your gas tank and that is your pump responding if it is active. if no hum, no pump. I use Delphi in my Ford and you have a Merc and that is a Ford as well. good luck ( you can also use Motor craft gas pumps as well)
