Problems starting

Asked by Mrscranky Jul 10, 2018 at 10:51 PM about the 2018 Honda Civic EX

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have only had my 2018 Honda Civic for a month and a
half. Last week I got in it and the break was all the way to
the floor, and when I hit the button to start it, it would not
crank. It kept telling me to push the break and press the
button, but I could not press the break and further
because it was all the way to h floor... finally got it to start.
it happened 2 days in a row, took it to the dealer on
Thursday they kept it till Friday could not get it to “not
start again” they did an update, and called Honda. On
Sunday it happened again, took my car back to the
dealership now Honda wants them to drive my car to see
if they can get it to do it for them. The scanner is not
showing any fault codes... does anybody have any ideas.
The dealership is stumped and I’m really not happy my
new car is not cranking for me all the time. The 2016 has a
similar issue, but had all kind of error codes pop up on the
dash. Mine just keeps telling me how to start the car.

My car auxillary was still running when I turned off car (i.e. car radio and fan still running. heck maybe even car but did not try to shift gears. I kept starting and stopping to no avail until about the 5th one. Today, even though switching radio station from dash, it would not switch stations though the display did show the channel preset flipping. Then when I started car up after this incident, the dashboard just had a swirling icon which eventually cleared about a few minutes. Taking it to the dealer to look at later. The service person said maybe the rain, but that doesn't give me a warm fuzzy.

Same problem here this morning (2018 Civic EX-T) when I went to leave for work. Message on dash was press brake to start but brake was locked "down" and I couldn't push it any farther. Finally got it started after 8 or 10 tries.
