What causes brake lights to quit
after unhooking utility trailer, not  
fuse

Check all the connections associated with the trailer hookup to see if something was pulled loose. Then use a multi meter to check brake light switch on the arm of brake pedal. If power is there and switch working it will be a process of moving backward toward the lights checking the line until the fault is detected.
