Replaced battery on 1998 Ford Explorer and now it won' start

I replaced the battery in my 1998 Ford
Explorer and now it won't start. When I try to
start it the lights flash on the dash then
everything goes of and it doesn't even try to
crank.

Check the D.C. voltage of the battery with a multimeter to see if it is at 12.5 volts. You may have an alternator problem.
