pep boys changed 3 alternators and 2 batteries on my 98 escort what needs to be checked?

it will run fine for a week or so then alternator stops charging and battery goes dead, car dies and gets towed to pep boys only to happen all over again

somthing like this usually happens when there is a large drain on the system I would look for a bad hot wire that has burn through and grounded itself to frame or motor

Also just ensure all ground connections are clean and makeing good contact.

This also happens when the alternator is being over-driven, usually due to high revs or after market pulleys causing the voltage regulator to burn out quickly.

Do you have a big stereo amplifier or other heavy draw equipment in the car? Have Pep Boys perform a parasitic draw test and see if there is a load on the battery when everything in the car is off.
