A/C not blowing cold air

Asked by Don Karlo Aug 12, 2019 at 04:00 PM about the 2018 Toyota Camry SE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I’ve had my 2018 Camry for a little over a
year and put some hefty miles on it already
(45k). I was driving home from work the other
night and my air conditioning was working
fine. When I went to work the next day, my
A/C was just blowing the external air from
outside and not cold air. I checked the
compressor, and there is no clutch on it. I
thought that I may have somehow lost
charge so I was going to buy a recharge kit,
but there is no R1234yf Freon anywhere
where I live. Anyone else run into this issue?
Any suggestions to help fix it would be much
appreciated.

I have a Camry xle 2018 purchased June 2018. Summer of 2019 the a/c did not work Drove into local Toyota garage, someone in the bay area after a few adjustments got it to work. It seemed to be ok till the Fall. Summer of 2020, the a/c went again. Same situation, took it to dealer, this time they said they needed to have the car left for the day. I had taken the 4 year extended warranty. So because of the pandemic, I was only driving locally, I didn't bring it in till Dec. which was my 6 month check up. They said it exploded, showed me photos, splashed all over the inside of the engine, ordered parts. Wanted to charge me $189, I already had the 4 yr warranty, they said it didn't cover that. I said this problem started the second summer I had the car, still under warranty. Should not be charged. I asked them if this was a common problem, they replied I was the first. This is my third or fourth Camry, perhaps my last.
