2001 Kia Sephia Bad transmission?

Asked by cldrules Sep 14, 2015 at 12:13 AM about the 2001 Kia Sephia Sedan

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2001 Kia Sephia, with 158+k miles, barely moves-in drive or reverse-
and makes horrible screeching sounds, no matter how much I hit the gas.
The check engine light was on, so I knew there were problems with the
transaxle range sensor and the idle air control valve. And there was some
scraping in the front, or located at what felt like the undercarriage of the
car, when moving from a complete stop. Earlier today the scraping
became more frequent. Then all at once it wouldn't go over 25 mph, the
scraping started at a red light, then when it turned green I couldn't move.
