this sounds like a trans problem that needs to be checked out by a trans shop.

what engine do you have. if it is the four cyl then it is downshifting because it is bogging down. my 6 cyl will do this on occasion when i let of the gas and then give it gas. i don't think that this is a problem because the trany is electronically controlled and doesn't always make the best decisions.

I have a 6 cyl and both the input speed processor and output speed processor have gone out. but when they did it just wanted to stay in third the whole time
