4x4 switch

Hi, I have a 1999 ford ranger xlt 4x4 and my
question is why do I have a four wheel drive engage
knob under my 4x4 switch? The engage knob is
exactly where most of these trucks have a cigarette
lighter..?

The switch puts it into 4X4 and the know selects high or low
