96 jeep cherokee over heating
,not leaking water or coolant , not
taking water from the resevoir.
Changed water pump and
thermostat....still over heating

Does this have an electric fan or clutch operated fan? Either way make sure that is o.k. Other thoughts are that the radiator is partially clogged causing poor circulation.

also check catalytic converter not a common reason for overheating, but it was the reason mycar was overheating.

Your main cooling fan is not direct drive, it has a kind of an hydraulic clutch. (No idea how to test it) These have known to go bad. The secondary fan is electric, you can test that with a couple jumper wires from the battery. Drain the radiator and look for crud in the antifreeze, good sign your radiator core is blocked up. While the radiator is empty, unhook the main hoses and be sure the interior lining hasn't torn loose and restricted the flow. I have a 96 2 door w/ 5 speed, LOVE it.
