My '64 Fairlane power steering veers hard right when I let go of the wheel. Is there an adjustment or pressure reducer in the valve? Might just revert to manual, any ideas?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The power steering valve has been rebuilt, possibly incorrectly. Did
suspension work, had the car aligned and it's fine until I let go of the wheel. It
veers hard right. No air in the system but something is wrong for sure. My
alignment guy said it's possible there should be a pressure reducer in line at
the valve. Anyone have an idea? Might just pull out the PS and revert to
manual if I can't figure it out. Thanks in advance for any advice! SJS57

Do you mean rebuild or replace the PUMP or the CONTROL VALVE. Hard for me to tell which might be the problem, but replacing the pump would of course be easier than replacing or rebuilding the control valve. Thanks!
