Overheating

3.7 liberty overheating ,code came on about 3 months ago
for thermostat changed it was fine now overheating no code
no engine light just h on the temp gauge. So replaced fan
clutch , thermostat ,pulled waterpump it was fine put it back
together went for drive about ten min then sat for ten was
fine. Today took it drove about 20 min then it overheated and
bubbled over. Bottom hose where thermostat is cold top is
boiling hot.

May need a radiator flush or the cooling system needs to be purged from the air pockets. The bottom radiator hose is suppose to be cooler than the top radiator hose. Also you should get a kit to check for exhaust gasses in the cooling system, that would indicate a bad head gasket. Here is how to purge the cooling system... www.youtube.com/watch?v=xeTgmdRkQtY

The cold lower hose indicates the thermostat isnt opening and allowing the hot engine coolant to circulate through the radiator. You very well could have a defective thermostat.

Make sure you put the thermostat in the right way, spring side goes into block. Easiest way to know its backwards, after you shut it off the bottom hose will begin to get hot.
