Starter will turn

Asked by Gabihartel Mar 21, 2019 at 10:43 AM about the 2004 Jeep Liberty Sport

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have had this vehicle for 2 years, it never failed to start. I moved on my
property 100 yards and used the radio on accessory , after that when I
turned the key , the lights came up but no starter engaged. I tried jumping
the starter direct with the key in the on position, it turned as normal but
would not start it. I tested the park position with jiggling the shifter then tried
neutral also with jiggling it, nothing. The alarm works in both on and off , and
I have seen plenty of people with this same predicament.

My husband found the problem, it was the Ignition Switch Actuator. Will show the part on youtube. It is made very cheap and looks like it can break very easy, so this might be the problem in many cases!
