Dodge Durango Oil Change

Asked by cmadolcet Sep 08, 2017 at 02:19 PM about the 2017 Dodge Durango SXT Plus AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just purchased a new 2017 Dodge Durango from a dealer. I went in after my
first recommended oil change at 9000 miles and the service guy told me that it
takes full synthetic and it would cost me $70.00 for each oil change. I know full
synthetic stretches a  lot longer but honestly is that true with a price being so
much?

Thanks!... just surprising that now every new model is taking Synthetic oil and have all these fancy apps to show when you need your oil changed ;) Anyways thanks again!

9,000 miles is far too long to go between oil changes even with synthetic. If you change it your self you can do it for around $30.

My first oil change was also at 9k. I think that’s where the confusion might be... Ijitial oil change 9k, then every 3-5k afterwards.

@F_O_R Where can we DIY oil change for $30? Everything i've priced has been $40-$45 for oil & oil filter.

All oils now a day's are way more advanced and you can easily go 10,000 miles without an oil change. Even on regular oil.

We are about to get our 1st oil change in our 2018 GT. Window sticker from dealership says next service @ 10k. We got an e-mail from Mopar saying we were past due @ 6700 miles. I called the dealership service dept. they said to ignore the notice & 10k was fine. ??? He also said if we're planning to keep the vehicle past lease then change it @ 5k. WTH?
