Asked by Guru3GJCQ Jul 21, 2020 at 06:26 AM about the 2017 Ford Edge Titanium

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My lift gate tries to open but won’t. Have tried turning off and on from panel on
left. Tried unplugging from battery but still won’t work. Any other solutions?

Might be somewhat late, but after a lot of "troubleshooting" I came to the conclusion that the power lift gate module (RTGM) had gotten out of sequence. I used an OBDII code scanner to see if it might display any codes. No, but I decided to "Clear" any codes stored in the car anywhere. Guess what? After that, the power lift gate opens perfectly and closes with authority. We will see how long this lasts. It did prove that fuses, various buttons, lift motor and latch functions are all good.
