Asked by dougiedo Jul 18, 2007 at 12:39 PM about the 2005 Honda Accord Coupe EX V6

Question type: General

Why doesn't the 05 Accord V6 have dual exhausts?Running all the exhaust down one tailpipe and then splitting it off to two exhaust tips is just plain STUPID.If its just done for looks I cuoldn't care less.My 04 Grand Prix GTP had the same useless exhaust system and this car was supercharged.Whats up with this kind of LOW-TECH exhaust system?

Most likely it is done for looks as well as for ease of routing the exhaust piping around under-car items such as rear suspension, etc. Also, one exhaust allows for a single upstream and downstream 02 sensor, single catalytic convertor, etc., which lowers cost and complexity of the emissions system.
