Service engine soon light just came on in my 1999 ford escort lx. It's been occasionally trying to stall when I'm idle. What's the verdict?

That could mean many many things. Take it somewhere and get the error codes read.
Thanks Jarett, Just took it to autozone and found out I had already corrected the problembefore taking it in. A hose came loose and was sucking in air (to lean a mixture). I reattached it and was told the light should go out by itself. If not, disconnect the battery and that should outten the light.
