Central digital panel on the dash

Asked by Guru92K4NQ Sep 16, 2022 at 04:08 PM about the 2017 Chevrolet Equinox LT AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just had the battery replaced in the car and now the central digital panel on the dash or the radio won't work.

When the battery was replaced, the installer didn't use a memory saver. Your car was without electricity for a while, a minute will do this, so the car lost its memory settings. You now have to reenter the radio code to get that function back. Refer to your owners manual or have a dealer do this.

I’m surprised it just the panel, usually you loose most if not all the accessories, the safest way to get it all back is have the dealer do a reflash, that way you get any software updates that maybe out there for your vehicle.

You might be headed back to the Dealer to have the computer reprogrammed. On many newer vehicles the computers must be powered up at all times, even during a battery replenishment or, as Ed92626 said, the computers will lose their memory. Hope that helps! Jim
