Get a rear end from another Tahoe (98 to 08), that would match as far as mounting points go, as well as spline count and size. It would also be best to match rear end gear ratios, you can confirm they match by looking at the metal tag on top of axle, or running VIN number on any VIN decoder web site and looking at specs for rear end. (By making sure gear ratios are a match you will avoid having any issues with computer shift points.) You will need to find a Tahoe rear end from 1998 to 2008, believe they were 8.6". 1997 and earlier were 8.5".
