Stupid question- sould my key open the back hatch or just unlock it?

I was under the impression my key fob would open the hatchback, but salesman said no only unlocks it. Manual says to open, what is it?

"Proximity Key" aka "Smart key" must be in your possession, other words near the car then it will unlock it, but you still have to pull the handle to open. *****There are no stupid questions countrygirl44*****
make sure the proxemity key is close to the car. Next you want to reach under the handle. with one hand and apply some upward pressure on the door. Once youve applied the pressure turn your head away fro the car and smash the window with a hammer. Wha La! Now you dont have to open the dpor. Just through your stuff in through the hole and duct tape some plastic so nobody steals your stuff if you have to go someplsce else.
