I have a 2000 ford ranger 6 cylinder 3.0 L with a/, replacing my third radiator hose

Asked by Chad Nov 21, 2015 at 07:39 PM about the 2000 Ford Ranger XL Extended Cab SB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I recently had a fender bender,  and afterwards,  found a crack in the radiator.
Took it to a mechanic had the radiator replaced.  He mentioned that when it
overheated there was damage to the head gasket,  and that it may need to be
replaced..  Since I have got it back I have had to replace 3 radiator hoses.   Can
the reason for these hoses blowing out be a result of a blown head gasket.
There isn't any water or smoke coming from the exhaust.  The engine oil is the
proper color,  and viscosity.   The reservoir is full,  but I am slowly losing
coolant.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do a compression test to see if any low cylinders, and if not pressurize the cooling system to see if it holds pressure. The heads are aluminum on those, and it is easy to blow a head gasket if it had over heated. The heads warp.
